Smoked salt is a wonderful, universal spice that has a pronounced aroma of smoke and the taste of smoked meat. This is a completely natural product, consisting of table salt, which is smoked on oak wood. This salt will add an amazing flavor to any dish.

How to cook smoked salt at home?

To prepare homemade salt we need:

  • table salt;
  • grill or smokehouse;
  • coal;
  • baking sheets;
  • 5 wood firewood (alder or pecan)
  • 2 cups wood chips.

Method of cooking:

  1. Heat the coals on one side of the grill. When ash appears on it - we put wood chips and firewood, we establish a grid. Cover the grill with a lid and half open the vent.
  2. While the grill is heating up, divide the salt into 2 trays.
  3. Next, open the grill and put the sheets on the side where there is no coal and cover the lid.
  4. Salt should be smoked for 60 minutes or until the smoke stops appearing.
  5. Remove the salt from the grill, let it cool and spread out in containers.

Food salt is involved in natural life processes, thus very important for our body.

  • Salt is needed to produce gastric juice. Since the body itself is not able to produce this mineral, salt must enter the body daily.
